We all have those moments, seasons, and even lifetime feelings where we believe we’ll never get ahead or we’ll never be enough or we’ll always just be a step behind, and that, quite frankly, SUCKS.
Let’s face it, we’re all humans having this human experience here on planet earth, and not one of us truly knows the key to ‘enlightenment’.
Yes, from a psychological viewpoint we can identify triggering symptoms as to why we feel and respond the way we do, but in all honesty we are ALL just working at navigating our life's journey.
From my experience of working with and LISTENING to a lot of people over my own short lifetime what I’ve learned most is people want to FEEL HEARD.
It’s not necessarily about the advice, tools or latest techniques I can give them; it’s about them FEELING UNDERSTOOD. It’s about them FEELING like they’re not ALONE. It’s about them FEELING VALUABLE.
I’ve yet to meet anyone who hasn’t wanted to FEEL VALUABLE.
So how do we push past the unheard, misunderstood, lonely, and undervalued feelings? There are a few general things that come to mind:
Willingness to find someone to talk with---someone who will listen and hear you. Not someone who will just agree or sympathize with you, but really LISTEN and ASSIST.
Willingness to be open to change. Change requires breaking patterns and possibly beliefs.
Willingness to give yourself permission to not be perfect in the process.
Willingness to learn to listen to your own intuition.
Willingness to repeat the above 4 steps throughout your life's journey, as the journey is anything but a cut and dry straight path.
If we can understand and accept our life here on earth is a journey of experiences that are continual in nature, it helps us not get too stuck in the muddy waters of despair.
No doubt despair occurs, it’s part of the human experience, but it’s what we do with that despair that determines our path along our journey.
Do we remain self-entrapped or do we strive to find ways out?
If one way doesn’t work, do we throw our hands up in the air and give up or do we preserve forward?
Do we continue forcing ourselves to the point of exhaustion or do we allow ourselves to take a break, step away from the scene and look at it from a broader vantage point?
It’s been my experience that more often than not, we cause ourselves to be stuck behind that proverbial 8 ball, feeling like there’s no way to make the shot, when in fact we are the ones who hold the answer.
We get to DECIDE how it’s played out.
We can DECIDE to throw the pool stick down and quit.
We can DECIDE to step back away from the shot, walk around the table and look from a different angle to see if there’s another way.
We can DECIDE we need to obtain the assistance of a coach or mentor who’s played the game longer, to aid us in the situation.
We hold ALL this POWER within us.
It’s how we use and draw upon this power that determines the path along our journey.
Ask yourself the following:
How will I get myself out from being stuck in life?
Do I have ways of managing those times in life when I enter the muddy waters of despair?
Am I willing to open myself up to someone who has experience managing such events?
Do I trust my intuition enough to do something different than what I’ve always done?
